Job Description

Role Purpose
We have a cloud first strategy primarily using Microsoft365 and Microsoft Azure.  As a business we are focused on Profit, building relationships with our clients and building high performing teams within our firm.   For us to do this we need a Cloud Infrastructure Engineer that can deliver and leverage the features in Azure for agile deployments, greater accessibility, reliability, redundancy and to meet our disaster recovery requirements. 

We have completed our cloud journey migrating on-premises servers to Azure.  We need someone that can optimise our Azure environment with continual improvements from migrating IaaS into PaaS to upgrading VM types for cost saving and productivity gains.    

Efficiency and automation are a must for us to achieve our business goals but we can’t do that without a robust and secure infrastructure platform so monitoring, documenting, knowledge sharing and collaborating within our team is imperative. 

This role will be supporting the cloud infrastructure for our consultancy business, as well as collaborating with the development team in our software as a service business.

The role
As a Senior Cloud Engineer, you would be expected to work closely with Technology Operations team where you will be automating the infrastructure in place to maximise efficiency, document, knowledge share and execute cloud deployments that are requested by our Software Developers.  You would be responsible for deploying optimisation features in Azure, completing Infrastructure actions from ISO27001 audits and Penetration tests and documenting and keeping Network architecture diagrams up to date.

You will be responsible for

  • Designing, developing and deploying scalable Azure Cloud based solutions
  • Performing vulnerability and capacity testing against our Cloud environment
  • Maintaining and improving our Cloud security and disaster recovery plans.
  • Collaborating with 3rd party security vendors to ensure issues are dealt with in a timely manner. 
  • Producing, maintaining and improving network architecture to ensure scalability and optimisation.
  • Identifying and migrating IaaS to PaaS for optimisation.
  • Ensuring our Cloud encryption is maintained using key management with Azure key vault.
  • Working with the Servicedesk to investigate and resolve infrastructure and Network issues.
  • Maintaining and monitoring our Azure backups.

Qualifications

This role is for you if you have experience with

  • Microsoft Azure.  Design, implementing and troubleshooting networks, VMs and PaaS.
  • Azure RBAC for managing access permissions and role assignments.
  • Virtual Network Design.
  • Proactive mindset and knowledge sharing with team members. 

It would be great if you also have experience with

  • AWS
  • SSL Certificate management
  • Cisco Wireless and Switches.
  • Microsoft security such as Microsoft Defender and Intune. 
  • Scripting such as PowerShell and Python.
